Recipe for Cake Decorating Icing

Cake Decorating Icing

1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 cup margarine
1 tsp Vanilla
4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
2 Tbsp milk

Let the margarine sit out on the counter for a while and soften.
Cream together the Crisco and margarine with a mixer. Add
vanilla and continue mixing.
Add powdered sugar to the mixture one cup at a time. Mix well
after each cup. When all 4 cups are blended in, add 1 tbsp of
milk and mix. Then add another tbsp of milk.
This helps thin it down a bit to get it to the consistency
you want it for making your cake decorations. You don't want it
too creamy, like spreadable canned cake icing, so don't overdo
the milk.
Cover with a damp cloth to store in the refrigerator. Keeps about
2 weeks.

To practice your cake decorating skills, use an icing bag with a
tip secured to the end. Practice on a piece of waxed paper. That
way, you can scrape the used icing back into the icing bag with a
knife and use it over again.
Have fun!
